This tutorial will walk you through how to build Supplier Discount Brackets.
Bracket Levels can be used to set minimum or maximum target levels for supplier orders by net cost, regular cost, weight, volume, counter or a customized counter.
Lets head over to our Bracket Levels maintenance screen. Follow the path below to get there.
Supplier Settings > Open a Supplier > Supplier Bracket Levels
Upon initial entry to the screen, you will see if Supplier Brackets have already been built.
You can delete, edit an existing one or set, by selecting the check mark, which one to use from this screen.
In our example, we will walk you through how to set up a new one.
Choose Add Level, in the top left corner, to get you to the Add Supplier Bracket Level screen shown below.
First, determine if you are setting a Maximum or Minimum bracket level. Then enter the value that will either be the minimum or maximum. Next, choose what Unit to measure this by. Remember that Counter can stand for cases, dozens, pallets, etc. depending on how you have your Buy Multiple set up. If you get a Discount by Percentage or by Dollars enter it in the final two lines.
In the example above you can see two bracket levels set up. Use the Check Mark box on the right side to choose which one you want to use. Currently, it is set up to Level 1.
It is telling us that if the minimum count of 25 is reached you will get an additional 10% discount. If Level 2 was used it would be telling us if we did not exceed the maximum Net Cost of $5000 we will receive a $20 discount.
Truck Fill Example
Bracket Levels can be used when an order needs to be built up to a specific level/weight. The best example is when the user must build the order to fill a truck. Set the unit to Weight. Enter the Bracket levels based on the weight of one truck. One truck can carry 42,000 lbs of product. We know that the manufacturer will only ship in truckloads. We set the Bracket Levels so that each level is for the next truck size. Up to 9 bracket levels can be created. If bracket levels are not set up the system will not build to any specific level. It will order what is needed to replenish inventory.
In the example above a truckload is 42,500 lbs. Bracket Levels have been built so that the buyer can easily build to any of those preset levels.
Note: When building to a fixed size container, use the Order Forecasting Precision field in the Supplier Settings Details screen. It gives the ability to add additional inventory in 10th’s of a day so it will fit more exactly in the cargo space. See the example below.
Next, in the Suggested Order screen, use the Rebuild option, to rebuild the order to a specific Bracket Level.
The example above shows how all the bracket levels we built appear in the drop-down menu.
Select the one you want to build too. Then select Rebuild. The order will now attempt to build to that selected bracket level.
You now have the tools and knowledge to build and use our Supplier Discount Bracket Level feature.
